A French parliamentary committee has voted to endorse a controversial report into the country’s public broadcasting network, despite strong opposition from left-wing lawmakers. The report, drafted by Charles Alloncle – an ally of the far right National Rally – outlines sweeping reforms and cost cutting measures, including potential mergers of TV channels. Some MPs, however, say the report is politically biased and didn’t want it to be made public out of fear of “legitimising” what they see as false claims about the media.
