Indian Premier League’s 15-year-old left-handed batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has broken the record of sixes in a single season of IPL. He scored 12 times on Wednesday and scored 97 runs in just 29 balls to lead Rajasthan Royals to victory.

This takes him to 65 sixes in the season, which leaves Chris Gayle’s 59 sixes in 2012. Gayle faced 456 balls to reach that figure, Suryavanshi needed just 266.

Kishori, who became the youngest IPL draft pick at the age of 13 in November 2024, also leads the IPL in terms of total runs with 680 at an average of 45.33.

“What a brilliant player Vaibhav is. Amazingly entertaining young man! The new six machine,” Gayle wrote, adding that “Baby Boss” fell just three runs short of breaking Gayle’s record of the fastest IPL century.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan became the latest player to call on the India selectors to react to the southpaw’s success.

“He is the best T20 opener in the world. India will have to pick him,” Vaughan said.

His captain at Royals, Riyan Parag, said that the youngster rarely needs guidance or advice.

“He loves to bat. Just leave him alone, let him go and have fun,” Parag said.

Muslims across the country gathered to offer morning prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

The “Feast of the Sacrifice” honors the Quranic story of the Prophet Ibrahim and involves the sacrifice of animals, usually goats.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes on this occasion.

“Happy Eid-ul-Azha. May this occasion deepen the spirit of brotherhood and happiness in our society. Praying for everyone’s success and good health,” Modi wrote on Twitter.

However, the day is being celebrated amid anti-Muslim fears in many parts of the country.

In the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned against prayer meetings on the streets, citing “law and order”.

Ahead of the festival, the newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party government in West Bengal state tightened slaughter rules.

The local government banned the public slaughter of cows, bulls and buffaloes, as well as made official certification mandatory before the slaughter of such animals.
