Spain reels from historic heatwave as it records over 1,000 heat-related deaths in June


More than 1,000 deaths in Spain were attributed to the recent heatwave that roasted Europe, as the country posted the hottest first six months ever recorded. The number is more than double the 407 deaths attributed to the heat in June 2025, which holds the record for hottest June. Scientists agree that such a heatwave would have been “virtually impossible” without climate change. FRANCE 24’s Sarah Morris tells us more.
