US President-elect Donald Trump spoke to supporters in Washington on Sunday, a day before he is expected to take the oath of office to become the 47th President of the United States.
Trump told a crowd at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington that he would stop the “invasion” of immigrants at the border.
“We are going to stop the attacks on our borders,” he declared.
In particular, Trump singled out criminals among the recent wave of Venezuelan migrants. He promised to expel members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua from the US.
“These are uncivilized people and they are fleeing our country,” the president-elect said.
Thousands of Trump supporters attended the rally despite heavy snowfall and falling temperatures.
Trump promises to fix ‘every single crisis’ in America
Trump also promised to fix “every single crisis” facing the country and to enact several executive orders in the early days of his presidency.
“We’re going to give him the best first day, the greatest first week and the most extraordinary first 100 days of any presidency in American history,” Trump said in his speech. He said he would undo many of the measures taken by outgoing President Joe Biden. ,
The newly elected President said that he would like to meet US President John F. Keddy would release the “remaining records relating to the assassinations” of Senator Robert Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
Trump made a similar promise during his 2017–2021 term but ultimately released only a few classified documents related to the killings.
The president-elect said he would take action to “keep men out of the women’s game” after taking office on Monday.
Trump promised to ban gender-affirming care and transgender sports participation during his campaign.
