This is how the Micam went – schuhkurier

“We are here to find that certain something,” said Hansjörg Egli, Managing Director of the Swiss Zusa group, summarizing the reason for his visit to the trade fair. And even though the situation in the shoe retail sector, especially in Germany, is not exactly rosy, many retailers evidently saw it the same way and had made their way to Milan. The first day of the trade fair in particular was well received in terms of frequency; numerous Italian retailers also took advantage of the start of the trade fair to visit.

“The mood in the retail sector is difficult, but those who bring something new can stand out from the competition,” says Martina Denkstein (Alma en Pena, Wonders), who was pleased with the high number of visitors to both stands at Micam. Stefanie Mäder (Brunate) described the mood in the retail sector as “not over the moon, but a little more positive than feared.”

A look at the collections shows that gold and other metallics such as silver and pastel variants are very popular. Even though it is already in the shops, leopard also seems to continue to play a role. Lizard embossing continues the series of animal designs.
Ballerinas are one of the indispensable models and are coming in new variations. Here too, things can glitter and shine. The last shapes are varied, from pointed to rounded to square.
Voluminous mules with padded straps and casual sandals bring summery lightness into play. And the sneaker is becoming increasingly slimmer, accompanied by a thin sole.
For men, sportiness remains indispensable. Stylish hybrids combine the brown shoe look and sportswear. The looks are a little more understated. The colors remain rather muted and move in the area of natural tones. If you want something “bold”, summery colors are combined. Then a somewhat more voluminous sole can also be used. Overall, however, a certain calming effect is permeating men’s shoe fashion.

You can read a detailed report about Micam next week in the print edition of schuhkurier and in the e-paper.
