New Delhi. US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth spoke to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on the phone on Thursday amid the increasing tension between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack and said that his country supports India’s right to self -defense and the fight against terrorism. Singh told Hegseth that Pakistan has been ‘exposed’ as a ‘wicked’ country which is promoting global terrorism and ‘unstable’ the region.
According to an official statement, the Defense Minister said during the conversation that the world can no longer be blind to terrorism. Singh’s office said in a post on social media that Hegseth said that the US stands in solidarity with India and supports India’s right to self -defense. It said, “He reiterated the strong support of the US government in India’s fight against terrorism.” The statement issued by the Ministry of Defense said, “The Defense Minister told the US Defense Minister that Pakistan has a history of supporting, training and funding terrorist organizations.”
The ministry quoted Singh as saying, “Pakistan has been exposed as a wicked country, which is promoting global terrorism and destabilizing the region. The world can no longer be blind to terrorism.” He said that it is important for the global community to “clearly and condemn” such heinous acts of terrorism and “oppose them”. The ministry said that Hegseth called Singh and expressed his sympathy and condolences on the death of innocent citizens in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack.
Pit Hegseth also later posted on ‘X’ and said that he has given his strong support to India in his conversation with Rajnath Singh. He wrote, “Today, I spoke to Indian Defense Minister Singh Rajnath Singh and expressed my deep condolences to those who lost their lives in a disgusting terrorist attack last week. I gave him my strong support. We are standing with India and its great people.”
