Cotton sarees are as comfortable and graceful to wear as they are difficult to wear. Especially those cotton sarees that are starched and tight. Getting the perfect look with such sarees is a tough job. Especially the pleats made on the waist scatter here and there as they move downwards. But if you know some tricks of saree draping, then you will get rid of this problem and can wear a saree in minutes.
Dolly Jain, famous for draping sarees, tells a wonderful trick for wearing cotton sarees. Saree pleats can be made easily by just following these steps.
Whenever a cotton saree is worn, often the pleats near the feet at the bottom do not fit properly and run here and there. Due to which the look does not look good.
Whenever you wear a saree, first of all, set the length by putting the upper pallu on the shoulder. For open pleats, a slightly shorter pallu is fine, whereas if you are making pleats on the shoulder, then keeping it a little longer looks good.
After this, set the remaining saree for the waist pleats and make the pleats and tuck it into the petticoat.
Now sit on a chair and comfortably adjust the pleats near the feet according to the pleats made on the top and secure them with the help of a pin so that they do not run here and there.
Now once again remove the pleats from the top side and match them with the pleats made on the bottom side. Then press with a little force using your hands so that all the pleats get set with each other.
Now just tuck in the petticoat and secure it with the help of a pin. Remove the pin placed at the bottom. The pleats made in this way do not run downwards and give a perfect look.
