In the future there will no longer be any leather products in C&A stores. In October 2024, the company announced a new animal protection policy along with its sustainability report. Accordingly, leather is said to have not been ordered since 2024, while other changes to the animal protection policy will apply from July 2025.
In 2024, C&A was awarded the Peta Vegan Award in the fashion category in the “best vegan bag” category. According to Peta, all of the fashion company’s bags are certified with the Peta-Approved Vegan seal.
The company also wants to become more involved in the area of sustainability. Betty Kieß, Chief Communications Officer, C&A Europe, said on the occasion of the publication of the sustainability report: “We are focusing on more sustainable use.”
80% of the core materials should be sourced more sustainably. Core materials are cotton, polyester and regenerated cellulose fibers, which make up 89% of the materials used at C&A. A reduction of single-use plastic by 36% compared to the baseline value is also being added as a measure. The company also wants to reduce waste.
In addition, 80% of the electricity for its own operations (C&A branches, distribution centers and C&A) comes from renewable sources, compared to 55% in 2022.
According to its own information, C&A has more than 1,300 branches in 17 European countries and employs around 25,000 people.
