Just a week ago the 12th edition of LABITCONFthe largest Bitcoin event in Latin America and the longest running in the world. Record number of attendees, speakers and talks, all in a context where the adoption of Bitcoin worldwide continues to gain relevance.
A total of 420 speakers They came to share their opinions, tell what they are doing in the ecosystem and/or explain how they intend to contribute to its future. From developers, entrepreneurs and politicians, artists, to podcasters or writers and a lot of other profiles, which makes the content offer truly diverse and enriching.
Of course, top-notch guests also play a key role in maintaining the quality of the event. This year, we had from public officials linked to Javier Milei’s party, regulators, pioneers of the ecosystem, to the famous Satoshi from HBO. All of them were part of this edition that, without a doubt, marked a new milestone.
This year’s motto was RESTARTwhich goes beyond a simple “reset”. It is about beginning to question or rethink the bases on which our society is based (or not), in order to start again, with new ideas and modalities. It is basically a call to dial new starting points.
More than 10,000 spectators came on Friday and Saturday, surpassing an attendance record set in the 2022 World Cup edition. This reaffirms, once again, that Argentina is a great center of Bitcoin adoption and communityand that we have a lot to offer the world.
Speakers from all over continue to be amazed at how a country at the edge of the planet has so much to contribute in terms of Bitcoin and the crypto ecosystem. All of this has arisen through ingenuity developed out of necessity, often with little or no economic incentives and infrastructure compared to other countries.
New edition, new experiences
Despite the 12 editions, are there challenges to be resolved in the future? There are always things to improve and innovate on. Were there failures in the area for which I am responsible? Of course!
There are many months of prior work and the results must be demonstrated in just a few days of conference. But beyond the opinions that we may have as part of the organization (which sometimes lose objectivity), The most important feedback has been given, once again, by the peoplewith your assistance, participation and thanks.
The anecdotes that I treasure and the courage that I have developed to face new challenges in life are the valuable things that I have left and that cannot be bought.
Throughout all these years, I have been lucky to be part of moments that were not only unique, but also unforgettable. Like when we put a dark robe on him like a monk Peter Todd for a show in which the “real” Satoshi Nakamoto would be revealed. Or that coffee chat with a Phil Zimmermancreator of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy)who wanted to stay longer because of his fascination with Buenos Aires.

That selfie farewell with Gareb Shamusthe founder of ACE Comic Conwhile accompanying him to take a taxi. Or that roast and fernets shared with Matyas Kucharco-founder of BTC Praguethe largest Bitcoin event in Europe. Also the books and gifts received by speakers in gratitude for our work.
Or that time I shared lunch and dinner with Scott Pagesaxophonist pink floydwho curiously I met again in Nashville, USA, a few months later. And how can we forget those mini talks about Bitcoin and life with Lunaticoin, Arkad and Zerohosts of the Bitcoin Direct 2140. Anyway, these are some of the many things that I keep fondly in my memory.

Since 2013, LABITCONF has always been in charge of that: bringing together the most diverse, controversial, fun and even mysterious personalities in the ecosystem to bring them together a few days a year in a phenomenal party that we call a “conference”.
The farewell
The time has come to step aside, after three years being part of the organization as speaker coordinator. Why do I do it? My desire to continue learning and exploring within the ecosystem marks a completed cycle and a need to seek new directions, both at work and personally.
Furthermore, I always like to question my own role and the idea of being “indispensable.” I think, with humility, it is important to recognize that there is always someone who can take your place and do it even better.
Of course, it is not easy to “walk away” from something that has given you so much satisfaction. But making this decision also pushes me to give that extra effort necessary to reach the next level. This applies to any area of life, right?
Did someone fire me or ask me to resign for poor performance? At all. But honestly, I think it’s better to leave before the team realizes that I was the one who ate practically all the catering that was originally for the guests. All very rich, by the way.
And as always, when you say goodbye to a place that formed you, accompanied you and gave you great opportunities, the need to give thanks arises.
Acknowledgments
First, thank Rodolfo Andragnes, founder and organizer of LABITCONF (and many other projects related to Bitcoin), who until the last day of the event taught me not only how to deal with people, but also how to flow in challenging situations, trusting myself and pushing me to achieve things that fear told me not to. couldn’t do. He is also the one who makes us laugh when he gets angry when he detects a person pronouncing or spelling the name of the conference wrong.
And secondly, to each of those who make up the production of the event, great people who accompanied me at every moment throughout these three years, and who have decided to delegate tasks of great responsibility to me, despite all the times. that I have gone to disturb the office, to steal Internet and coffees.
But this, technically, It is not a final farewellbecause the contact with those who are part of the creation of this experience will always remain valid, only now with a Hernán on the other side of the counter.

“What Trump or Trump! “The all-time highs that Bitcoin is setting are due to the hype generated after LABITCONF.”. A simple post-event internal joke, coinciding with the presidential elections in the United States.
I imagine we will see each other in the 13th edition in 2025, right? It seems that it will come unstoppable, or as they say, UNSTOPPABLE.
