According to Birkenstock, the visual highlight in the 80 square meter store are the massive, organically shaped modules and tables made of cork. Rounded edges throughout the store and in the shop windows are intended to reflect the shape of the brand’s anatomically shaped footbed. In addition to classics such as Arizona and Boston, new styles and seasonal themes such as the Big Buckle series and the Home and Kids segments are also presented in the store. New to the range is the recently launched Birkenstock Care Essentials foot care range. Footbeds and insoles are also available.
The “Book of Birkenstock”, published on the occasion of the company’s 250th anniversary, which provides insights into the development of the family business into a globally known brand, will also be available in the store.
“By opening a permanent branch in Cologne, we are strengthening the retail network in our important home market. The Cologne area is of great importance to Birkenstock because we have deep historical roots in the region and part of our team has been based here for several years. This store is a further step in our European retail expansion and offers our fans a new space to experience the Birkenstock brand up close,” says Nico Bouyakhf, President and Managing Director Birkenstock Europe.
The Cologne store is the 15th store in Germany, and Birkenstock says it operates a total of 35 branches in Europe. Further stores of our own in various European cities are to follow
