Micam presents itself as an international platform

The fair, which will take place from 15 to 17 September, will offer more than just shoes: a focus on young people to inspire them to take up the shoemaking trade, a stage for emerging designers, space to encourage creativity, a new layout and easier visitor flows. Buyers from more than 60 countries are expected, according to the organiser Assocalzaturifici, the Italian shoe manufacturers’ association.

With 932 brands, of which 475 are from Italy and 457 from abroad, mainly from Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Portugal and Germany, Micam will once again offer a unique platform for manufacturers and retailers, the organizers say. Giovanna Ceolini, President of Micam and Assocalzaturifici, explains: “Despite the current period of great uncertainty, Micam continues to grow in terms of the number of exhibitors and the number of brands represented, especially from abroad.”

However, the number of exhibitors has decreased compared to last year’s event. In September 2023, the organizers had stated that 1,024 brands, including 520 from Italy and 504 from more than 30 other countries, had participated in Micam.

Parallel to the upcoming Micam, the trade fairs Mipel (leather goods), The One and Milano Fashion & Jewels (fashion and jewellery) as well as the materials fair Lineapelle and the machinery fair Simac Tanning Tech will be held at the exhibition centre in Rho near Milan.

Most recently, the trade fairs ran over four days from February 18 to 21, 2024. According to the organizers, 40,821 visitors were counted, including the Lineapelle leather fair. In February 2023, according to the organizers, 48,000 trade visitors came to Milan. In September 2023, 42,273 trade fair visitors were counted.
