The office of French President Emmanuel Macron introduced a new government under new Prime Minister Francois Bayreu on Monday, nearly three weeks after the fall of the previous administration.
This is the fourth government of France in 2024.
Who will be in the new administration?
The two former prime ministers are part of the country’s new administration, which consists mostly of centrists and conservatives.
Elisabeth Borne, 63, will serve as education minister, while Manuel Valls, 62, will become the country’s foreign territories minister. Former Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin was appointed Justice Minister.
Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu and Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot both retained their posts.
However, it is unclear whether the new government will be able to remain in office for long, with leftist parties signaling their disappointment following talks with the newly appointed Bayeru.
“This is not a government, this is a provocation. The far right is in power under the watch of the far right,” Socialist Party leader and National Assembly member Oliver Faure said in a social media post.
