A 45-year-old man who killed several people in the historic Montenegrin city of Cetinje remains at large, authorities said Wednesday.
National broadcaster RTCG and other local media said five adults and two children were killed. Four people were seriously injured and taken to hospital.
The shooter is still absconding.
Police described the suspect as armed and dangerous.
He said the incident “is not the result of a high-risk confrontation between organized crime groups.”
Officials urged residents to remain calm and stay indoors.
Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić went to the hospital where the injured were being treated and declared three days of mourning.
“This is a terrible tragedy that has affected all of us,” Spajic said. “All police teams are out.”
Cetinje is located about 30 kilometers (18 mi) west of the capital Podgorica.
