Bayern Munich wins 35th Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich secured another Bundesliga title by beating Stuttgart 4-2 at home on Sunday.

Top scorer Harry Kane scored his 32nd goal of the season after coming on as a second-half substitute, and the Bavarians won their 35th German league trophy.

The win gave the Bavarian giants an unassailable 15-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund with four games remaining.

Germany captain Joshua Kimmich, who won his 10th league title with Bayern, described the victory as “very special”.

“The way we did it, we were very consistent…and we don’t get that form that often. I’m hopeful of another 10 titles,” he said.

Another impressive campaign

Bayern have suffered only one defeat in the league this season, at the hands of fellow Bavarians Augsburg in January, and have lost four in the league so far.

He has also scored 109 goals so far this season – another record.

Bayern has already won the Super Cup against Stuttgart in August, and will face Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.

In Europe, Vincent Kompany’s side have reached the Champions League semi-finals, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg on April 28.

“It’s April 19 and we’re in every competition. We’ve had a lot of success with every player in the team. We go to Leverkusen knowing that anything can happen, but with real belief,” Kompany told DAZN.

Kompany, whose only previous job as head coach was at Premier League team Burnley, takes over in 2024.
