A man was shot by law enforcement near the Washington Monument in Washington, DC, on Monday, according to the US Secret Service.
“U.S. Secret Service personnel are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting at 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, DC,” it said in a statement on social media. “One person was shot by law enforcement.”
The nearby White House, where US President Donald Trump was reportedly attending a short business meeting, was reportedly closed for some time.
The condition of the man who was shot was not immediately clear, nor were the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
But a spokesman for the local fire department told The Associated Press that emergency services transported an adult male to the hospital and were treating a teenage male for minor injuries.
