Israel’s ruling coalition on Wednesday submitted a proposal to dissolve parliament to pave the way for early elections. The move, initiated by Netanyahu’s right-wing Likud party, came as Netanyahu appeared to be facing a possible collapse of his fractious coalition, amid mounting pressure from the ultra-Orthodox parties. If the proposal is accepted, elections in Israel could then be held as early as the third week of August, around 2 months ahead of the October 27th deadline. Meanwhile, the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is nearing its end. Fresh talks are taking place in Washington. details by FRANCE 24 correspondent in Jerusalem, Noga Tarnopolsky.
