India will bat in the only cricket test against Afghanistan
India captain Shubman Gill won the toss on Saturday and elected to bat in the one-off cricket Test against Afghanistan.
Immediately after lunch, India stood at a strong score of 135-1 – courtesy of SAI Sudarshan’s quickfire 54 and KL Rahul’s unbeaten 58. This was the 21st Test 50 of Rahul’s career.
The one-off Test between the two neighbors will be considered a bilateral series only and will not fall under the World Test Championship cycle.
This is only the second Test match between India and Afghanistan, which is new in this format. The teams had previously played in 2018, when India defeated Afghanistan in their first Test match.
The match is being played at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh and if it goes on for a long time, it could go on till Wednesday.

Cockroach Janata Party is protesting at Jantar Mantar
Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dubke has arrived in Delhi from the US and urged his followers to join the protest at Jantar Mantar and demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Dubke, who arrived at the airport amid heavy security, urged the protesters to carry a book and the Indian flag.
The party is demanding Pradhan’s resignation over alleged examination irregularities.
Citing an investigation by an Indian newspaper Indian ExpressCJP spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya said, “Out of 45 major exam paper leaks in the last two decades, there has been punishment in only two cases in which it was found that you transferred one of them. How can someone’s transfer be treated as a punishment? Does it make any sense?”
Speaking to DW, he said, “Youth are facing problems around the world. This movement should become an example for youth around the world to bring about change through peaceful protest.”
