White House says Trump signed deal to end war in Iran
The White House said Trump signed a memorandum of understanding at Versailles to end the war in Iran, although cameras were not present for it.
Many historic treaties have been signed at Versailles over the centuries, ending wars or territorial disputes.
The most notorious was that which officially sealed the end of World War I in 1919 – whose harsh conditions imposed on Germany have been blamed by some historians for laying the foundation for World War II.

Trump signs preliminary deal with Iran: What we know
President Donald Trump has signed an initial agreement that will extend the ceasefire for 60 days and gradually reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance digitally signed the agreement on Sunday and a formal signing would take place on Friday in Switzerland, officials had earlier said.
But the Associated Press, citing a US official, said Trump signed the deal in Versailles on Wednesday after a trip to the Group of Seven summit in France.
Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian also signed it on Wednesday, a U.S. official said, though Iran had no immediate comment.
It was not immediately clear whether that act triggered a 60-day negotiation clock to reach a final deal.
