UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said early Tuesday that an oil tanker was hit by an “unknown projectile” in the Strait of Hormuz.
“While heading south the ship was struck on the port side, resulting in a fire,” UKMTO said.
According to a report by Axios, citing a US official, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) launched attacks on two commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
No casualties or environmental impacts were recorded, but both ships suffered significant damage, the report said.
