US federal authorities arrested social media influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate.
Marshals Service spokesman Brady McCarron told The Associated Press, which first reported on the arrest, that the warrant had been sealed.
Prosecutors in Britain said they have sought the extradition of the brothers on rape and sex trafficking charges.
Malcolm McHaffie, head of the Special Crimes Division at the Crown Prosecution Service, said, “We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for other offenses including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offenses relating to indecent images of a child.”

CPS is bringing the following charges:
- Andrew Tate, 39, has been charged with a further seven counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a further 19 counts of offenses relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
- Tristan Tate, 38, is charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Joseph McBride, a lawyer representing the Tate brothers, called the new allegations “filth and slander” intended to derail defamation lawsuits filed by the brothers in the United States.
“We are confident that once a competent judge looks at the facts, and once the Justice Department confronts this egregious abuse of its authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will be free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work,” McBride said in a statement posted on Twitter.
