A man who stole an excavator vehicle in the southern state of Baden-Wurttemberg has been shot dead, German police said Tuesday.
Police wrote about a “suspicious rampage” in the Main-Tauber district on X, where an excavator truck damaged construction company premises and a police patrol car, seriously injuring an officer.
“A man took an excavator and used it to injure people and damage several vehicles in Grunsfeld,” police said.
In a later statement, police said a man took control of the digging machine at around 1.30 pm local time.
He then damaged construction company vehicles and buildings before driving into an industrial area, damaging several patrol cars and civilian vehicles.
Three police officers were slightly injured. Just before 2.30pm, the 38-year-old man’s journey finally came to an end when he was shot by police at a car dealership.
