Pope Francis suffered two new breathing attacks on Monday and was put back on non-active mechanical ventilation, said Vatican.

“Today, the Holy Father experiences two episodes of acute respiratory failure,” Holi C said in a statement.

Breathing issues were due to the “significant accumulation” of mucus in Francis’s lungs, and bronchial cramps that disrupt the airways.

According to the Vatican, “According to the Vatican, two bronchoscopy were performed with the requirement of abundant secretions.”

The statement said, “In the afternoon, non-active mechanical ventilation was resumed. The Holy Father was alert, oriented and cooperative all the time. The forecast is protected,” the statement said.

Pope Francis’s health is critical

This development is another shock to recover from pneumonia in the battle of 88 -year -old Pontif.

On Sunday, the Vatican stated that Argentina Pope’s position was stable after suffering a “separate breathing crisis” and non-invasive, mechanical ventilation on February 28.

Francis is at Jamelli Hospital in Rome since 14 February and has not been public since Stight – his longest absence from public view began in March 2013.
