According to local police, a shooter killed eight children in Shreveport, US state of Louisiana on Sunday.
“This is a massive scene that most of us have never seen before,” Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith told reporters.
Officials said the youngest victim was 1 year old and the oldest was 14 years old. Two adults were also reportedly shot.
Police also said the crime scene spanned three locations, and described the incident as a “domestic disturbance.”
According to local police representative Chris Bordelon, the suspect tried to flee and was shot by police during a pursuit.
The city of Shreveport is the third largest city in Louisiana and is located near the state border with Texas.
