2 dead, many injured in manhem car – DW – 03/03/2025

Officials said at least two people were killed and several injured on Monday as a car went into a pedestrian area in the western city of Manhem.

Police said that a suspected was in custody, saying that it was not clear that others were involved.

Many cities in Germany were paraded on Monday to mark the Carnival season. Manhem’s main parade took place on Sunday.

A spokesman for the ministry said that German internal minister Nancy Faer canceled his participation in a carnival parade in Colon and information was being given on the incident.

The spokesperson said, “Preliminary investigation by officials in manhem is now priority,” the spokesperson said.

What do we know about the car

The incident occurred around the afternoon in a major class ParadePport in the city.

According to the Manhem 24 news website, a black SUV made it to a high -speed crowd in a carnival market, where a carnival market was held.

State internal minister Thomas Strobe said the driver was a 40 -year -old German man.

After arresting the suspect, the police said that “in the current stage of investigation, there is no doubt of the political background.”

Police announced that a person was killed in the incident. Strop later reduced the toll of death.

The authorities sent to Manhem to alert the Katwaran app to tell the public to escape from the city center. The app is used by the authorities to communicate information about major emergency situations.

Manhem University Hospital said that it was implemented for an emergency plan in the case of a possible collective casualties, according to the DPA news agency.

In December, a car entered a Christmas market in the eastern city of Magadeberg, killing six people and injured 200. The suspected was a Saudi doctor who expressed anti-Muslim ideas and support for a distant option for the Germany (AFD) party.
